Parfums de Marly is a classic tribute to King Louis XV’s fondness for perfumes and horses.
Reviving the opulence and luxuriousness of the celebrations that used to be held at the King’s castle named Chateau de Marly, Parfums de Marly pays homage to the receptions and festivities of the era. Through its original concept, Parfums de Marly rekindles the spirit of fragrances from the splendour of the 18th Century, when the finest perfumes were created for King Louis XV as a tribute to the prestigious horse races that he was a connoisseur of.
The king’s addiction to horses peaks in 1743 when, in memory of his great-grandfather Louis XIV, he commissioned Guillaume Coustou to sculpt his famous masterpiece for the grounds of the Chateau de Marly (Marly Castle). This magnificent work of art, known as “The Marly Horses”, earned a place on the Champs Elysees Avenue in the heart of Paris in 1974, where it can still be admired today.
As his reign continued, perfumes came into their own as the court of Louis XV (named “La cour parfumée” or the perfumed court) became renowned for its extravagant scents. Every day, the king requested a different scent for his apartments and streams of aromatic scents sprang from the royal fountains.
Staying true to its regal roots, Parfums de Marly continues today to deliver outstanding fragrances that bear the names of the dignified breeds of horses that they have been inspired from and pay homage to the aromatic courts of King Louis XV.
Parfums de Marly offers Feminine, Masculine and Unisex perfumes as well as a collection of candles.
