Located at the JW Marriott, GQ Bar Dubai is a place where smart, sharp individuals can relax in a stimulating social environment. It’s the quintessential meeting place for people to enjoy social drinks, discreet tête-à-têtes between friends – as well as a place to entertain professional guests. Personally though, I consider GQ Bar Dubai the ideal destination for a dinner date. With soothing lounge music being played in the background, the atmosphere is perfectly set for getting to know someone.
The interior of the bar is spectacular, but then again this is GQ we’re talking about. They make it their duty to go beyond the norm. Facing the immaculate whiskey bar is a killer feature wall covered with over 300 memorable magazine covers.
We were invited by the guys at GQ Bar Dubai to try their new international menu and here’s how our night unfolded:
Entrèe:
From the word go, we couldn’t take our eyes off the sushi selection on the menu. And after being shown a passing plate by our Spanish waiter, we couldn’t resist the temptation. With great eagerness, we ordered the Tempura shrimp roll and California roll with king crab.
If you’re a fan of salmon tartar, you’ll absolutely love the Salmon carpaccio and tartar with cucumber chilli duxelle, crème fraîche and tomato jus.
Mains:
We didn’t hold back a single bit when ordering our mains.
I went straight for the steak as usual and ordered the Grilled Angus beef ribeye cooked medium/rare and served with crushed garlic thyme potatoes.
Mark was a little more tame and ordered the chicken breast with mushroom duxelle, roasted fingerling potatoes and sautèed Brussels sprouts.
Dessert:
There’s always room for dessert…always.
Being a huge fondant fan, I had to order the 70% Valrhona chocolate fondant with vanilla bean ice cream.
Mark went with the amazing orange and vanilla crème brûlèe.
The upstairs lounge & bar offers a great environment for the perfect scotch on the rocks in one hand and a Cohiba cigar in the other.
