The Ivy Restaurant Dubai

The Ivy Restaurant, Bar and Jazz Lounge in Dubai is an elegant and relaxed international brasserie open for breakfast, lunch, dinner every day of the week, as well as Friday Brunch, and Saturday lunch. The Bar and Lounge plays host to some of the region’s hottest jazz musicians on Tuesday and Thursday nights and all day Friday.

With top-rated service and a menu to suit all tastes and pockets, The Ivy is the perfect venue for both business and pleasure. The large terrace area, private dining room and bar can be booked for corporate and private events, and packages can be tailored to any kind of event and budget.

Located in The Boulevard at Jumeirah Emirates Towers, in the heart of Dubai’s slick business district, The Ivy is a fantastic location for either a business dinner or first date.

We were invited by the highly recognised restaurant to review their delicious menu, and it went something like this:

I kicked off my night with a non-alcoholic berry cocktail (I was driving unfortunately), which I highly recommend if you’re after something fresh and fruit.

Entrèe

Being so indecicive with the what to order for starters, our lovely waiter suggested we go with the platter for two. A wise choice it was.

The Ivy Tasting Platter (275) for two which consisted of:

Seared fois gras with fig galette & infused cherries,
Aromatic Duck Salad with watermelon and chilli cashews,
Gazpacho with white balsamic,
Dressed Dorsal Crab with celeriac rèmoulade and
Spiced Tandoori Prawn with chilli jam, mango & coriander salsa.

The platter was presented with perfection and with an adequate portion of each serving. Each portion bursting with flavour, herbs and spices. My favourite was the spiced tandoori prawn.

We were a little hungry and Arabs always over order. So we ordered two small side starters 😉

Steak Tartar (90) – One of my favourite dishes of all time. I’ve made it my duty to hunt down the greatest steak tartar in the Middle East. The Ivy’s edition is definitely up there with one of the best. No need for the extra herbs and spices offered by other restaurants, this dish was divine.

Fresh Salmon, Tuna and Yellow Tail Sashimi – To be honest, we were a little let down by the salmon sashimi and it’s freshness. The tuna and yellow tail were pretty good though. Then again, I have a very high expectation when it comes to sashimi.

Main

We doubled up on the mains and ordered an Australian Grain-Fed Fillet Steak each. I love my Australian meats (not being bias or anything), but the tenderness of the flesh is outstanding. The fillet simply melts in your mouth. Personally, I always have my fillet steak cooked medium/rare, as it allows the meat to remain extra juicy.

For sides, we went light and ordered the broccoli covered in Cheese, thick cut potato fries and spinach. The broccoli is an absolute must! One of the most delicious sides I have ever ordered.

Dessert

Similar to the struggle we encountered when ordering our starters, the entire dessert menu looked delicious. So we chose the platter, again.

The Ivy Dessert Platter consisted of (85):

Red Velvet Coupe with cream cheese ice cream,
Chocolate Fondant,
Rhubarb & Pavlova,
Butterscotch Ice Cream and
Strawberry Cheesecake

Again, amazingly presented, the platter was the perfect way to cap off an unbelievable dinner. The chocolate fondant and butterscotch ice cream will definitely not disappoint.

Here are a few snaps I captured in-between meals:
