I am proud to announce SMF’s latest collaboration with Ford Australia.

I was given the opportunity to get behind the wheel of an awesome new SUV, the Ford EcoSport, for a whole week. The EcoSport is a small SUV, designed with urban living in mind and in my opinion, perfect for a university student or a provisional driver’s first car.

The car runs off an efficient one litre engine, allowing you to clock a solid 600km out of a single tank. Impressive or what?! During my week long test drive, I was only required to refuel the car once. Such a positive when you’d rather spend your money on nights out with the lads.

Once you enter the SUV, you’ll notice it’s a lot more spacious that expected. Three people can comfortably fit in the back with enough leg space to keep the driver and front passenger also happy.
Life can be messy, but you wouldn’t know it in the EcoSport. With twenty storage spaces, there’s a place for pretty much everything. A slide-out drawer under the front seat keeps valuables such as your laptop, iPad or even university textbooks (they can be bloody expensive), out of sight. Your sunnies have their own nook, and the same goes for your umbrella. Keeping things tidy has never been so easy.

Now for the exciting stuff. Want to use your phone or change the music on your iPod, hands-free? Just say the words and SYNC does the rest. With an amazing bluetooth connectivity system already wired into the car, you can crank tunes straight from your iPhone with the click of a button. Sound quality you ask? Amazing! And pretty load as well.

When it comes to getting you where you want to go, the EcoSport means business. It puts 200mm of ground clearance between you and the road, potholes, rough surfaces or whatever else is in your way. Therefore, the SUV is nowhere near lowered enough to make your Tupac or 50 Cent tracks acceptable.

Cities are noisy. But not inside the EcoSport. Designed with an outstandingly quiet interior, the EcoSport turns even the busiest peak-hour street into a relaxing haven.

With Sydney’s weather finally pulling its socks up and delivering one hell of a day, I decided to head out to Bondi Beach for a quick surf. Ps. the surfboard fit perfectly.
